I unexpectedly began covering food with videos featuring wild game for Field & Stream, which naturally sparked an interest in the stories behind dishes. After blogging about dining on a college budget for ‘Hungry? City Guides’ and covering celebrity chefs and New York City dining for ‘The Daily Meal’, I developed a microsite on worldwide food and beverage destinations for USA TODAY Travel. Today, that project has morphed into the USA TODAY Eats section, where I report on under-the-radar and up-and-coming food scenes across America, in addition to managing coverage of international food and beverage travel, food trends, restaurant openings, chef stories, festival news and more. I’ve rolled sushi with Nobu, paired sake and ramen with Morimoto, and cooked chicken with Martha Stewart, and am just as enthusiastic about meeting the makers at a new farmers market when I travel.

Shane later started Chicago Food Planet in 2006 to show his love and passion for Chicago food, architecture, history and culture. Shane started Food Tour Pros in 2009 to help industrious individuals start and operate their own Food Tour businesses in cities and town across the globe and now has over 350 clients internationally. Shane launched Global Food Tourism in 2015 to help unite, educate and inspire clients, colleagues and competitors in an effort to ensure the quality and longevity within the Food Tourism industry. Shane has been a featured speaker at industry events including IACP, TasteTrekkers, GFTC and OCTA. Shane has traveled to over 40 countries and starting in 2009, he drove his motorcycle from Chicago, IL to Patagonia, Argentina, covering more than 40,000 miles as part of his ongoing culinary and educational efforts.
Each year, our keynote speakers, panelists and master class presenters address the critical areas within the rapidly expanding and evolving Food Tourism industry.
